Since my mouseport is broken (i use the gameport) i cannot acces the early
startup menu any more. I use a startfloppy just to choose the partition i want
too 'really' boot from.

Could anybody explain more in detail what is happening during the boot process
(cold & warm) (or point me to a good reference)
- what is maintained in memory in a warm reboot ?
- what is autoconfig ?
- what happens before startup-sequence is reached
. how can a HD formatted in an other filesystem than the one present in ROM be
read ?
- in which ways may controllers differ in their booting behaviour ?
